Slit-eyed Spanish basketball team photo

From the fake singing of a little Chinese girl to slit-eyed Spanish men ad, the 2008 Beijing Olympics never seem to run out of controversies. Pao Gasol, a Spanish NBA superstar playing for LA Lakers, and his fellow Spanish players are being criticized for this particular Spanish courier ad to promote the Olympics.

The photo came out as an advertisement of Seur, the courier company, in Spanish paper La Marca. Although Spain has been previously fined over certain controversies during international games, this ad caused a stir especially among people who simply just want to talk about it under a different light. It’s glorifying the issue that doesn’t go any higher than a plasma mount.

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong about this ad. I don’t think the motive of the creatives behind this “slit eyes” campaign is to mock the Chinese.

Pacquiao wins over Diaz

We were looking for a place to have lunch when we met this throng of people coming out from SM cinemas offering pay per views at exactly 12 noon. Mostly were males and some were probably armed with hidden spy camera for obvious purposes. How can I forget? Today was the schedule of Pacquiao-Diaz title match at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. And based on what I heard from the buzz word that circulated at the cinema level, Pacquiao knocked Diaz after nine rounds. Pacquiao is now the first Filipino and Asian to hold 4 world boxing titles.

Sportswriters have christened Pacquiao with a new title, “Mexecutioner”, after beating Mexico’s finest boxers in the likes of Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez and now, David Diaz. Pacquiao has earned the respect of the world and the Boston Celtics superstars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen who all went to his dressing room to congratulate him after the fight. Pacquiao is a Boston Celtics fan.

Wow :)
