MarCommAsia’s fun sights and wonders

Last September 24, MarCommAsia 2008 finally opened its doors to seasoned marketers, the business community and media in a ceremony not even the rains could stop. We were present way before the exhibit opened, throwing our undivided support to Mother Susie who happens to be one of MarCommAsia’s lead organizers.

Welcome to MarCommAsia 2008

Let me skip the ceremonial parade of familiar faces and speeches by giving you a glimpse to a bunch of things I thought was more exciting than free food or free MP3 players. If you’re a marketing person like me, you might find these good finds suitable to your future campaigns.

A plane to catch

For example, this automated airship/promoflag flew across the venue and held people’s gazes for a couple of minutes. Kids would definitely love something like this flying on top of their heads.

Clear-Channels, one of the exhibit’s sponsors, also have this movable smart cart that could take you from one corner to another. You just have to lean forward or back to move it.

Dance Heads set-up

Former Lipa City Vice Mayor Boy Manguera and his wife volunteered to sample Dance Heads to the tune of An Achy Breaky Heart. Confetti Effects, Inc. is responsible for this piece of audio-visual entertainment that attracted more people to their booth.

It was fun and good to see old acquaintances and meet new people. MarCommAsia has ended yesterday but will definitely be back two years from now.

MARCOMMASIA opens on September 24

I’m in the middle of finding my missing API key for my resto blog. It’s pretty confusing when you’ve got BLOGS and a number of API keys registered under different names sleeping somewhere in 5 different email accounts. How do I manage it? I don’t know. As long as no one touches my online stuff, I know where to find them. Today happens to be a special case.

Anyway, while I’m on it, Tita Susie forwarded me the latest update on MARCOMMASIA and I already spread it to a number of people on my address book. The big event opens on September 24th until 26th at the World Trade Center. If you guys have time, please drop by. It’s free admission. Please bring a paying friend for the conference.

Books and notebooks

For some odd reason, I went into book and notebooks shopping spree last week at the National Bookstore.

I bought Al Ries and Jack Trout’s Marketing Warfare at a bargain price of P700, notebooks in two sizes, a new photo album to organize my new photos, Avanti gel pens in three colors and a small pencil case. I happened to pass by FUNctional shop and bought two markers. Later, I might buy a good sketch pad and a pen brush since I have unearthed from nowhere the book on Anime drawing I bought two years ago from Fully-Booked.

As of today, I have three books on my computer table that kept me company for the past two days I was in bed due to flu. The third one, The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey, is a good book I got from my brother’s room. I only have but one thing to tell you: this book will definitely change the way you see and know Jesus.

The Dome of Rock used to be Solomon

In fact, after reading half way through the book, I am now torn between visiting Hong Kong and embarking on Holy Land tour Christ’s Commission Fellowship organizes annually. Yancey’s book so intrigued me I want to see Jerusalem and its outskirts for myself and understand how Jesus lived as man in a community known for its rigid observance of the Torah. I am not sure if next year would be the right time to explore Israel with terrorists sending off bombers to Gaza Strip. Remind me to get a life insurance quote.
