Everywhere were people in shopping frenzy while soft jolly Christmas songs played in the background…well, to get everyone into shopping for holiday gifts this early. That’s what “Ber” months are about anyway in retail vocabulary.

While waiting for the 8pm AS1 concert at the adjacent event venue, we decided to drop by the Manila International Book Fair at SMX. I was torn between inspirational books, Maxwell’s series on leadership, Christian theology, Jane Austen titles and Wuthering Heights by Charlotte Bronte. But since I have no time to gush over English romance and doctrinal studies on religion require so much brain energy, I opted for a book on marriage. To prepare for it just in case. I can sense it coming my way real soon. By the way, I got the book called “Pillow Talk” for only P75. Not bad for a future investment.

Manila International Book Fair ends tonight. Entrance fee is P20 for adults, plus you’ll get a raffle ticket to win books or something more juicy if you’re that lucky.

Last September 24, MarCommAsia 2008 finally opened its doors to seasoned marketers, the business community and media in a ceremony not even the rains could stop. We were present way before the exhibit opened, throwing our undivided support to Mother Susie who happens to be one of MarCommAsia’s lead organizers.

Welcome to MarCommAsia 2008

Let me skip the ceremonial parade of familiar faces and speeches by giving you a glimpse to a bunch of things I thought was more exciting than free food or free MP3 players. If you’re a marketing person like me, you might find these good finds suitable to your future campaigns.

A plane to catch

For example, this automated airship/promoflag flew across the venue and held people’s gazes for a couple of minutes. Kids would definitely love something like this flying on top of their heads.

Clear-Channels, one of the exhibit’s sponsors, also have this movable smart cart that could take you from one corner to another. You just have to lean forward or back to move it.

Dance Heads set-up

Former Lipa City Vice Mayor Boy Manguera and his wife volunteered to sample Dance Heads to the tune of An Achy Breaky Heart. Confetti Effects, Inc. is responsible for this piece of audio-visual entertainment that attracted more people to their booth.

Dancing to the tune of Achy Breaky Heart

It was fun and good to see old acquaintances and meet new people. MarCommAsia has ended yesterday but will definitely be back two years from now.

I’m in the middle of finding my missing API key for my resto blog. It’s pretty confusing when you’ve got BLOGS and a number of API keys registered under different names sleeping somewhere in 5 different email accounts. How do I manage it? I don’t know. As long as no one touches my online stuff, I know where to find them. Today happens to be a special case.

Anyway, while I’m on it, Tita Susie forwarded me the latest update on MARCOMMASIA and I already spread it to a number of people on my address book. The big event opens on September 24th until 26th at the World Trade Center. If you guys have time, please drop by. It’s free admission. Please bring a paying friend for the conference.

The guy called Ironwulf is probably beaming with excitement. After years of travelling extensively from Batanes to many parts of Asia, he is ready to show the world images of diverse cultures he took with his camera. Five days from now, his first ever one-man photo exhibit will open at the Filipinas Heritage Library near the Makati Stocks Exchange in Ayala Avenue. The exhibit, Living By Water, reveals the simple and quiet lives of people thriving in the coastal regions.

Opening night is on May 12 at 7PM. Cocktails will be served and the opportunity to meet new people abounds. Be there, wear your clothes and be in your best behavior.

On the side note, I like this new PS3. I hope the brothers will get one soon. And I heard that Kobe Bryant has won this year’s MVP title. I am not exactly a Kobe fan. My brother is. So if there would be someone who will rejoice over it, it would be him and thousands of Kobe minions out there.
