Moving out…soon.

I’ve spent a couple of days over the past two months or so checking out condominiums around the city. Somehow seeing Kleng-Kleng manage her own concrete plot somewhere in Ortigas Avenue inspired me to find my own place in the sun that I can retire to when my hair and teeth start to fall off. I’m a PAGIBIG member for over a decade, and I thought that I should really take advantage of what they offer and get my own property. So why not? I think they made it now a lot easier like electronically reading a Medifast coupon code.

So I started checking out condominiums first. Manhattan Gardens in Araneta Center was the first to catch my attention. I decided to check on their model units, particularly the one with the least price (at P2M, no kidding). I loved the interiors of their one-bedroom unit!

I am not really into the buying stage yet. Scouting around and checking on guidelines give me tremendous opportunity to learn more about the things I might really need when it comes to selecting a property and warning signs that I really should watch out for. I’m still buying myself some time, but I’m hoping to get started next year.

Google Profusion Delusion

Scam

Scam

If you’re a Facebook lurker, beware of this ad that says “Mystery Shoppers Wanted”. Although mystery-shopping is a legit job like anything else from plumbing to selling Blue Advantage, the website to which this Facebook ad was linked to has nothing to do with mystery shopping the way I knew it. The ad’s content is all mystery and yes, more shopping too. These sleazebags are out to get their hands in your credit card account and rip off your hard-earned money.

Here are the reasons why I think the website Google Profusion and the supporting testimonial of someone named Rosario Bautista are both scams:

1. Their Facebook ad is misleading. I.e. “mystery shoppers wanted”.

2. When you read through Rosario’s testimonial, it’s too good to be true. P480k a month through Google links? Are you kidding me? I’m a legit Google Adsense publisher earning not even $50 a month from Google ads posted on my site.

3. The website “Google Profusion” does not explain how you earn those staggering amounts. It’s all vague. You get paid for posting links? Whose links? Where do you post it? Do they give you a website? Why would Google do that when it already has Adsense? Truth is you can get Google’s Blogger account for free and sign-up to their Adsense also for free. So why pay to get a job?

4. Rosario Bautista’s page is the only page in http://onlinesuccessblogs.com/rosariobautista/blog/?t202id=32738&t202kw=phms-8. Click on the site’s homepage and all you get is a blank page. There were no links to their success stories published in CNN, New York Times, etc.

5. They only pay in checks. Why is there no Paypal option? Most of my legit online jobs uses Paypal to transfer payments.

6. Google has nothing to do with it.

7. Lastly, read what those who got suckered in say about their experiences.

Best book sale ever

Books on sale

Books on sale

We didn’t know that inside the entire SM Mall of Asia complex two massive sale events were being held: the 4-day mallwide sale and one of the biggest book fairs at neighboring SMX Convention Center. Everywhere were people in shopping frenzy while soft jolly Christmas songs played in the background…well, to get everyone into shopping for holiday gifts this early. That’s what “Ber” months are about anyway in retail vocabulary.

While waiting for the 8pm AS1 concert at the adjacent event venue, we decided to drop by the Manila International Book Fair at SMX. I was torn between inspirational books, Maxwell’s series on leadership, Christian theology, Jane Austen titles and Wuthering Heights by Charlotte Bronte. But since I have no time to gush over English romance and doctrinal studies on religion require so much brain energy, I opted for a book on marriage. To prepare for it just in case. I can sense it coming my way real soon. By the way, I got the book called “Pillow Talk” for only P75. Not bad for a future investment.

Manila International Book Fair ends tonight. Entrance fee is P20 for adults, plus you’ll get a raffle ticket to win books or something more juicy if you’re that lucky.

Artsy fancy faces

My workstation

My workstation

Little I did realize that it has been a year and AJ, an old face painting client, turned a year older. He has grown taller and a bit more of a talker now than he was before (!) I’ve seen old familiar faces, mostly the celebrant’s friends in school and around his neck of the woods. One thing about celebrating birthdays the British way is it wasn’t really fancy. Just a short and simple celebration with a couple of friends dropping by and spending few hours catching up on things. No wailings, no drunk individuals, no lavish feast, no show-offs. In fact, in the many birthdays I attended in my lifetime, this is one of the simplest but the most intimate one.

I’d like to thank AJ’s parents, Nick and Becca, for having us back last Sunday.

I usually do a lot of drawings and paintings before, either for a hobby, de-stressing myself, or a serious assignment. Aside from that are those extended service plan and services I recommend to other people. I can organize parties from family gatherings to concerts, conceptualize themes, mount up an entire production…I mean that’s how restless my mind can be.

If you need help in organizing yours, drop a note.

Noynoy’s makeover

noynoyLast week, I read Tim Yap’s column in the Philippine Star. It was about tips and suggestions by some people on giving presidentiable Noynoy Aquino a makeover – from head to toe. Most of us grew up seeing Noynoy dressed simply and very casual, a very striking contrast from his fashionista sister, Kris Aquino-Yap. But since power-dressing does really come into play, imaginative socialites and designers shared their precious insights on giving Noynoy worth a second look. I think his days of sporting that industrial equipment supplies seller look are soon be over.

Of course, we know that it wasn’t the outfit nor his looks that endeared him first to most of the Filipinos. It was his simplicity and unassuming character that won us over.
