July 22 solar eclipse

Ortigas building

Certain parts of India, China and Japan experienced daytime darkness when the longest solar eclipse of the century took place yesterday. I wasn’t aware of this news that people from all over flocked to these eclipse hotspots, as if moving companies San Francisco bay area started teleporting them to hotel rooftops. I only got an SMS reminder from a co-worker at around 9AM, just in time for the once-in-a-blue-moon phenomenon.

Well, it did not go that dark in Manila. I almost broke my neck from trying to get a clear view from inside the vehicle that took me to Ortigas. It was a partial solar eclipse that lasted until around 11AM. That’s what the witnesses said.

And the only souvenir I got from the experience was this photo of the building I took with my handy digicam. It was bright and sunny down here.
