I just got off the phone with a dozen of things swimming inside my head, like the Colonix review I still have to check. My cousin from London is in town with her two little girls and will stay until the second week of August. There is a lot of catching up to do from the time I left London in 2007. I certainly did miss on Clara’s “walk” years.

Here’s what I think a grand idea to entertain these pretty girls this weekend without leaving the metro:

1. Take them to Manila Ocean Park in the morning.
2. Treat the girls out to lunch at CPK Greenbelt 5. Aside from kids pizza, pasta and sundae, they will enjoy the CPKids activity book.
3. Timezone.
4. Mall shows for kids. I hope there’s one.
5. Buy them something. I just don’t know what.

Any suggestions?

July 22 solar eclipse

Ortigas building

Certain parts of India, China and Japan experienced daytime darkness when the longest solar eclipse of the century took place yesterday. I wasn’t aware of this news that people from all over flocked to these eclipse hotspots, as if moving companies San Francisco bay area started teleporting them to hotel rooftops. I only got an SMS reminder from a co-worker at around 9AM, just in time for the once-in-a-blue-moon phenomenon.

Well, it did not go that dark in Manila. I almost broke my neck from trying to get a clear view from inside the vehicle that took me to Ortigas. It was a partial solar eclipse that lasted until around 11AM. That’s what the witnesses said.

And the only souvenir I got from the experience was this photo of the building I took with my handy digicam. It was bright and sunny down here.

Spot the difference

We were driving along post-flood Imelda Avenue in Cainta early this morning when we saw this “fluke” in Harry Potter cinema billboards of Sta. Lucia Mall. Below the structure are gravel and sand manufacturers and wholesale furniture shops at the far end. I took my camera phone, begged Kleng-Kleng to slow down and took this shot of the week. I still have the Harry Potter hangover since the other night.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opened in the middle of one stormy week. Renz and I had the chance to see it on a rainy Friday night minus the usual elbow fight for a splendid balcony view. Half of the mall crowd that time were in their jammies eating champorado at home…

Hey, Snapes has just killed Dumbledore.

Parc Royale on fire

This building beside ours was on fire late Tuesday afternoon. Fire trucks clogged the roads leading to Julia Vargas Avenue causing traffic and irritation among commuters during the rush hour. I joined the rest of the spectators (and chismosos) trooping to nearby Benpres parking lot and took photos with my camera phone. I really should own a DSLR given my penchant for capturing live actions, structures and quirky people like those inside the gyms running on ellipticals, the woman and her child who endlessly beg every night, unruly pedestrians, and gossiping women in coffee shops. Well, someday.
