There were recent developments for the past couple of weeks in American Idol. The competition was trimmed down to seven after Scott Macintyre was voted out last night. Of the seven, it’s pretty easy to predict who will be this season’s top 3.
For sure, my all-time favorite Danny Gokey will be one of them. He is vocally superior but he has to be careful with the songs he chooses. Somehow, his performances became a bit predictable as of late. Sixteen-year-old Allison Iraheta is perfectly in tune after going through the bottom twice. I agree with Randy that she does remind everyone of Kelly Clarkson. I didn’t like Adam Lambert in the early stages of Season 8. I thought his voice was screechy with his Freddie Mercury-like falsetto. He dressed up before like an evil drag queen of sort in need of an anti-rabies vaccine or a colon cleansing treatment. He was over-the-top ridiculous in many aspects. But what surprised me was this guy toned down his voice and looks when he sang a Smokey Robinson hit. Then his version of “Mad World”. Finally, Adam found himself. He had just arrived home.
A couple of weeks more to go. I’ll be watching over these three.
