Armando

Say hello to Armando

Say hello to Armando

After a two-month hiatus, Kleng-Kleng and I are back on the road again, resuming our Saturday racketeering duties. Joining us this time is her brand new Honda City she had recently christened as “Armando”. Her decade-old red Honda she calls “Junior” is now safe in the hands of his new master, but we still miss him. Particularly those moments when he’d literally let off steam in the middle of the road on a rainy day.

Now her new knight in shining armor smelled so clean you want him to be your perfume. We took Armando to Godiva Quezon Avenue where I had a free facial, then off to Rockwell for a late lunch at CPK. Nice ride back home after all the time we spent walking around the mall, trying on dresses that made me look pregnant (I swear I was born to wear pants forever), spraying on various perfumes and searched for a Plantar Fasciitis for painful foot condition in the heel and arch area we all know happens when you’re about to grab a seat at the council of elders (hehe).

Hmm…maybe I should give my bro’s silver Honda, an older cousin of Armando, a name, too. Like “Mongster Car”. (I call my brother “Mong” hehe.)

The fight over Palestine

Gaza today (from http://guardian.co.uk)

My attention as of late has been directed towards the bad news happening in the Middle East – the Israel-Gaza crisis. The problem started when the Hamas militants kept firing rockets to the southern towns of Israel which they say is to attract the world’s attention to the plight of Gazans. Gaza suffers from severe blockades since the Hamas, a known Palestinian terrorist organization, took over the government. Israel fired back two weeks ago, destroying military bases, densely populated towns and secret tunnels where armaments were smuggled in to Gaza. The number of casualties has been increasing daily.

Lately, missiles were fired to Northern Israel from Lebanon.

Israel and their Arab neighbors have been fighting over Palestine since the time Israel became an independent nation in 1948.

Up until now, the territorial dispute has not been resolved with the two parties both unwilling to give in. The Arabs have always resented the moves the British made when they granted the Jews a country of their own in 1948. The United Nations decision to divide the territory between Jews and the Palestinians fueled several Arab invasions to dissolve the country. And the Jews are not easily to give up on their claim over the land their fathers have long since occupied. If it weren’t for numerous persecution they suffered throughout the history and the Diaspora, they would have actually stayed there.

No one is going to win this war while they keep on justifying their deeds by resurrecting past hurts and exacting revenge. It has simply become a vicious cycle. Let’s pray for peace in the Middle East.
