You’re right. The word “discover” to describe the arrival of Magellan and his fleet in the archipelago is not appropriate. It is ethnocentric and reflects Western egotism. Most exploration/navigation historians agree with you. Instead of “discover” they now simply write Magellan “reached”, or “arrived”, or “came”, and some such words.
