Pinoys Shine Around The World

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Charice Pempengco received standing ovations during a very recent concert at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. World reknown composer David Foster and singer Josh Groban have nothing but praises for this young Filipino talent. The girl possesses an amazing voice for her age.

And two more Filipinos are making raves across Britain. Madonna Decena and young Filipino-British Charlie Green were recently included in the Top 40 list of reality TV talent show “Britain’s Got Talent”.

Air Supply Unplugged

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

A lot of songs by Air Supply have been played gazillion times over the radio since the time I could recognize a song up to this age of American Idol invasion. There may be a lot of things written about them which we may all have forgotten in time as news became sporadic like dried up faucets. But their record-breaking hits still bear their signature. You would know it’s them when you hear one.

Steve O’ Neal brings the famous Australian duo and their songs to Manila. Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock are coming on June 14 to serenade their Filipino fans with their soulful music. The concert, Air Supply…From The Heart, takes place on a Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum rain or shine.

Lakers On My Crystal Ball

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Currently, the score is 2-0 in favor of L.A. Lakers. The year of Kobe has finally come.

Everyone around me has been betting that the L.A. Lakers are sure to steal the NBA crown from aging San Antonio Spurs superstars. With Kobe Bryant riding high on his first ever Most Valuable Player award, the young Lakers team are sure to keep the reigning NBA champs away from even touching this year’s title. The Spurs would need more than just bodybuilding supplements to make it through the Lakers siege. They need to pump in new blood to their franchise. Otherwise, their happy days as a team will soon be over.

I don’t think even Kevin Garnet and his team are able to survive an encounter with L.A. Lakers should they both advance to the Finals. Why? If it’s not motivation, it’s age that keeps Kobe’s team alive these days.
