There is no country in this world which has not propagated bad news about drug abuse and addiction and its dire consequences to human life. (Unless you grow marijuana plants legally in your backyard, then consider yourself exempted.) So far, there are still people who remain stuck in situations where they have lost their will to recover.
These are the things a drug dependent might physically suffer from in the future. May this serve as a scary reminder to everyone. Take your pick.
-Delirium
-seizures
-coma
-heart attack
-respiratory problems
-kidney damage
-schizophrenia
-HIV
-AIDS
Drug rehabs are scattered all over the place. Treatment to almost any form of abuse is readily available to willing victims who want to see their lives changed for the better.

Last Monday, I was invited by someone I met in a birthday party to assist a group of college students from the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) in their costume make-up for their stage play “Cats”. It was a tough job to do full face painting on about 20 persons but somehow, with the help of a college friend, we made it. This was the first time I did something like this. It turned out pretty well though for a neophyte make-up artist.
If you are thinking of having something like this in the future, drop a line at the comment box below.
Some of us have experienced getting drunk once in a while and knew what it was like to be stripped off your inhibitions that make you a different person and do things you would not let yourself caught doing in your sober state. But getting hooked to alcohol, or to any particular interests or habits for that matter, is different. This is where alcoholism is classified as a disease.
How would you know if one has crossed that line? Medical experts have described four signs of alcoholism:
1. Intense craving for alcohol; a strong urge to drink.
2. Losing control once drinking began.
3. The need to consume huge amounts of alcohol to get high
4. Withdrawal symptoms once drinking is stopped
The problem of alcoholism does not only affect the person’s health. It claws its way into the victim’s life to disrupt careers, family and other social ties as well. Entering someone into an alcohol rehab facility is the best solution to put a stop to this destructive habit from developing further. There are teams of specialists who conduct individual and group treatments and psychological therapy for patients willing to undergo the painful process to recovery.
