Davids Rule AI 7

This season teems with raw talent, something that was quite lacking in last year’s competition. I can compare this year’s talent clash to seasons 4 and 5 that has produced some of today’s chart-toppers in the likes of Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and Elliott Yamin.

Here’s my prediction for this year’s battle for the American Idol title. The stage for the finale will be shared between the two Davids.

David Archuleta
I rest my case on talks about him being part Filipino and leave it hanging that way. Archuleta does not look like he is and he has not made any statement to confirm nor deny it. But one thing for sure, this 17-year-old Star Search winner has the qualities of becoming the next hit the world has yet to see. Behind him is massive fan base that could help him secure his place in this year’s bet for the American Idol crown.

David Cook
This 25-year-old guy is a certified rocker from head to toe but comes in a totally different package that sets him apart from a handful of long-haired rock singers who obviously got their inspiration from Bo Bice. He looks very neat and has a good fashion sense without really overdoing it. Despite his rocker image, Cook has this guy-next-door appeal and an exceptionally good voice that could easily win the votes of both young and mature women.

Also, I think Carly Smithson, a Simon Cowell favorite among the girls; Ramiele Malubay, another talented Filipino who will definitely get the votes of Filipino-American communities; and Jason Castro will occupy the rest of the seats reserved for American Idol’s Top 5.

A Health Nut’s Dream

The last time I have ever been to a gym was about nearly a year ago. I enrolled myself in a fitness program offered by Slimmers World thinking that my uncontrollable appetite for food and innate laziness toward any form of physical activity will be cured. I so lacked the discipline that I looked up to having a trainer or simply someone who was flat serious about getting fit and all that.

I was introduced to a trainer who charted down my program – from the proper way of stretching, warming up on stationary bikes, toning down my muscles in five exercise equipment to finally hitting the treadmill. After 4 months of attending workout sessions thrice a week, I was perfectly fit and healthy minus a couple of pounds.

The cost of getting into such programs is a bit expensive compared to having your own gym equipment at home. If you really want to save up from entering pricey fitness programs, be creative and practical about it. You can always have your warm-up exercises, jog around the neighborhood or the nearest sports track, and buy a Precor elliptical for your cross-training cardiovascular exercises. It is an investment you can share to everyone in the house and use anytime that suits you without getting billed monthly.

Basically, all you need is discipline and everything else will follow.
