Long before Quizon Avenue and the onslaught of chinovelas invaded the Philippine television, there on primetime TV existed a well-beloved sitcom called Home Along Da Riles. It starred Dolphy, baby-fat Vandolph, teeny-bopper Claudine Barreto, Babalu (+), Nova Villa and young Boy2 Quizon minus the dredlocks.
I believe the TV show was inspired by the actual homes standing along da riles (along the railways) which have now been reduced to rubbles. What used to be a busy area now lies desolate. The trolley business had gone from bad to worse, not because of flat tires, but the depressing surrounding and possible germ contamination from Philippine National Railways (PNR) horror trains scare commuters away. These photos were taken yesterday afternoon outside the gates of PUP Sta Mesa.
