Let’s Go Churchin’

Since early part of 2000, SM Megamall has become my second home where I do bulk of my chores - shopping, grocery, salon visits, entertainment, bills payment, banking, medical check-ups, weekend hang-outs, and office meetings. A few years later, I never thought that church service will be added to the list.

Christ’s Commission Fellowship, or CCF, is no strange place to me. I have passed by it maybe a thousand times already everytime I cross from Mega B to Mega A. The church is located across SM Megamall A, right there at St. Francis Square where McDonald’s used to be my favorite midnight hang-out for coffee. I remember the church’s facade billboard inviting people in. Every Sunday, cars and people would create traffic that made Mega A a happy place to be.

I have been a bonafide member of Jesus Is Lord Church in Pasig for 6 to 7 years. But my hectic schedule at work, location and the need to learn more prompted me to find another local Bible-based church nearby that could cater to those needs. Hence, in the middle of 2004, I was probably one of those people who responded to that billboard invitation. And yeah, I must admit that I was a bit surprised to discover their church service is being conducted in English. (By the way, there is a Filipino service in the afternoon.)

At one time, three to four Megamall theatres were used by CCF to accomodate more people every Sunday. The arrangement lasted for months while the construction of the new CCF auditorium was ongoing.

Every Sunday morning, I am happy to share balcony seats with old friends from JIL, John and Stephen. Small world.

CCF is a Christ’s-centered, Bible-based church managed by elders, lay people and professionals under the leadership of Pastor Peter Tan-Chi. Its mission is to make committed followers of Jesus Christ. To find more about Christ’s Commission Fellowship and what the congregation stands for, visit their official website.
