Dallas Mavericks forward, Dirk Nowitzki, is the first European to bag the Most Valuable Player award for 2007-06 season by a panel of 129 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. Other players in the top 5 race to MVP were two-time MVP Steve Nash (Phoenix Suns), Kobe Bryant (L.A. Lakers), Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs) and Lebron James (Cleveland Cavaliers).
Steve Nash and Suns center, Amare Stoudemire, were named 2007 First Team. A couple of weeks ago, Leandro Barbosa of Phoenix Suns won the Sixth Man Award and Golden State’s Monta Ellis the Most Improved Player. Sam Mitchell of Toronto Raptors is 2007 Coach of the Year.
