Some of us now have a reason to be upset. Here’s why.
I was supposed to sign in my Yahoo mail when this caption reared its ugly head and caught my attention: “Golden State makes NBA history by upsetting top-seeded Dallas”.
Whoa! WHOA!
Golden State, regular season’s eighth seed, defeated the league’s superstar, Dallas Mavericks, Thursday night at the Warriors homecourt. It’s unbelievable! The 111-86 score burned a hole in my head and I lost my appetite for dessert. (Look, I just ate lunch at the breaking of the news.) Mavs, you just broke my brother’s heart.
The Golden State Warriors was the third to upset a number one team. The two others are Denver Nuggets (1994) and New York Knicks (1999).
For sure, this would affect Dirk Nowitzki’s bid for the MVP title and boost Steve Nash’s chance for a third consecutive win that would place him in NBA’s hall of fame. I feel bad for friendly Dirk, but I think his buddy Steve really deserves the title for the third time. Nash’s presence on the floor brings out the best in every Suns player. That is superb leadership. I don’t know what else to call that.
Anyway, a replay will be shown tonight at Basketball TV. Allow me to relive today’s major heartbreak.
